Chinese Celadons and Other Related Wares in Southeast Asia
Arts Orientalis, Singapore. 1979. Hardcover, with dust jacket. Book, English text.; Hardcover (with dust jacket); 23 x 30 cm; 1,581 Kg; 312 pages with 294 full colour plates and seven authoritative articles on Chinese celadons and related wares.; Used book with signs of wear. The dust jacket has a tear on the top of the spine. The dust jacket is now protected with a clearcover. Minor signs of wear in the interior, namely some minor wear marks on the rear of the front cover and on front free endpaper.; Compiled by the Southeast Asia Ceramic Society in Singapore, this catalogue was published on the occasion of the exhibition on Chinese celadons and other related wares in Southeast Asia, organised by the SEACS together with the National Museum in Singapore IN 1979. Beginning with an introduction by Lu Yaw, who examines the evolution of the celadon tradition in China from its beginning to the Qing dynasty, the other six articles go on to explore celadons found in Europe, India and Sri Lanka, Brunei and Sarawak, and how the Chinese production of celadons impacted on the these wares made in other centres, such as Thailand, Korea and Japan. The final article explores the role ceramics played in the tribute system in China during the Song dynasty. Comprising 294 full colour plates, this book is of utmost importance, as it encourages an interest in the ceramic art of China and Southeast Asia, as well as shedding light on the significance of the celadon type of ware. Good/Dust Jacket Included.

Ceramic Art of Southeast Asia
The Southeast Asian Ceramic Society, Singapore. 1976, 1st Edition. Hardcover. Book, English text; Hardcover (with dust jacket); 19.5 x 25.5 cm; 0.646 kg; 194 pages with black and white illustrations.; Used book with signs of wear on the exterior. The interior is in good condition, apart from the rear of the front and back cover that show signs of wear.; 3rd reprint of the 1st edition.; Catalogue from the first annual exhibition at The Southeast Asian Ceramic Society, June-July 1971, focusing on Southeast Asian wares exclusively, i.e. pottery of continental Southeast Asia exclusive of South China and Laos and of peninsular Thailand and Malaysia with Singapore.; "Most of the pots seen on the museum shelves were made either at the Sukhotai or Sawankoloke kilns of Thailand, or at the kilns in the northern part of the old kingdom of Annam (today is part of North Vietnam). The majority of pieces in both these groups belong to either the 14th or 15th centuries. The earliest wares on display, on the other hand are undoubtedly those here called 'Khmer', which date from the 10th to the 13th centuries, and which were made either in Cambodia or in Thai territory under Cambodian control. The latest are wares from the northern Thai kilns at Sankampaeng and Kalong dating from the 15th to the 16th centuries." excerpt from the introduction. Good/No Jacket.
